We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our 34+ year old Swan (Tammy Stanley). On Monday, February 27, 2023 park staff noticed that the Swan was missing from the pond. After a thorough search around the park, its remains were found in a wooded area near the pond, which leads us to believe that she was overcome by a wild animal overnight.
Our beloved mute swan, who was known by many names to park goers, lived a good long life here at Stanley Park. According to wildlife officials the average life span of a mute swan is 19-20 years.
Matt Soliwoda, who is a long-time park patron and frequent feeder of our feathered flock remembers our swan as intelligent, friendly, and very willing to pose for photographs. According to Matt, the swan has been a great ambassador to her species and enriched the lives of many people and will be missed dearly.
