Nature Workshops
In a collaborative effort between Stanley Park, Westfield State College, and the Greater Westfield Community, in 2010, 7 Nature Workshops will be conducted in the 180 acre Wildlife Sanctuary at Stanley Park lead by local professionals in their field. Arthur O’Leary, Dave Lovejoy, and Janice Zepko are our field experts and will lead our workshops.
O’Leary graduated with a BS in Environmental Biology/Regional Planning in 1996, is a past Director and Vice President of the Naturalists’ Club, and serves on many Advisory Committees concerning Environmental Issues. Lovejoy is a professor of Biology at Westfield State College and is also the Treasurer of the Springfield Naturalists’ Club. He is the Author of “The Vascular Flora of Springfield, Massachusetts” which was published in 2008 by the Springfield Science Museum. Zepko received a bachelor’s degree in biology from Westfield State College in 2006 and is continuing her studies at the University of Massachusetts. She is active in the Allen Bird Club of Springfield.
All walks and workshops will meet at the entrance sign to the Frank Stanley Beveridge Memorial Wildlife Sanctuary, and will cancel if there is heavy rain. Bring along your field guides, binoculars and camera.
